My individualistic view of professional practice is to communicate professionally with both charisma and confidence whilst achieving the best possible result for the client. I have acquired professionalism through my studies throughout university which helped establish my moral compass and professional responsibility as a community Correctional officer. Extra individualistic attitudes were formed through my work experience as a security officer. ACES security expanded my avenue to different fields throughout security. It taught me professionalism by focusing on representation including uniform code and strict polices that should be followed when conducting customer service.
Throughout my 3-year experience at University I have worked in an abundance of group projects. I have communicated with various stakeholders and groups who are enrolled in both similar and different disciplines. I was appointed as a team leader for one of my group projects from where I had to keep a regular update on group contribution whilst helping students input their ideas freely. I am currently employed at NSW ART GALLERY officer; I have worked closley with my colleagues to complete specific tasks through the gallery. Clear and precise Communication at the gallery is crucial hence, I always present myself professionally and radio any possible issues or concerns to other gallery officers.
1.General skills
I have gained basic skills in working under constant pressure through my career experience at fast food outlets which helped me work in fast paced environments with fluctuating conditions. This conditioned and provided me with knowledge about workplace health and safety issues. I have always been punctual to all job sites, arriving 20 mins before shift start for adequate briefing. I have been rewarded and complemented for my active listening throughout class discussions and customer interactions at work. I have acquired knowledge into conflict resolution throughout my current job as security and improved my adaptability by building trust and compassion with all stakeholders.
2. Specialised skills
I have acquired specialised knowledge into policing and community through units covered throughout my degree. I have also gained specialised knowledge from my security field which taught me about white code check-ups and all other emergencies and how to handle them. I have acquired specialised skill in community engagement through multiple tasks during my security work. I also gained specific knowledge into families and children protection throughout university units which taught me about victim and victimisation and stakeholders in a community trust. I Also have extensive skills in working with Microsoft office and resources.
3. Community Funding Application Development
I have also acquired knowledge into grant applications from the unit Contemporary Social issues and Professional practice. I was able to enhance my skill in research of community funding applications and resource making by taking part in grant application making. It allowed me to focus on contemporary issues in Australia that require more sophisticated programs. My role in group work task allowed me to gather significant research into community needs to further enhance my research and problem analyses skills. Proposal development also helped with my investigation skills, since it allowed me to perform comparisons with programs and funding organisation. Project identification also assisted my knowledge into policy implications and gaps, highlighting on major project mishaps and finding ways to capitalise on program limitations. Overall, the unit familiarised me with grant applications and funding bodies that relate to my project into suicide prevention for the male demographic. This was instrumental in introducing me to community epidemics and societal issues In Australia.
4. Applied debating: Developing position papers
The position paper helped with my Interpretation of scholarly material by reviewing methodologies used to argue contemporary issues in society. The position paper helped me differentiate between logical and irrational arguments to induct an efficient position on a controversial topic. It helped me effectively articulate limitations of arguments and therefore, conduct a position that responds to the issues identified. In an applied debate context, I can incorporate argumentative debates that basis knowledge on the research as well as introducing solutions that target these complexities. Overall, I have acquired knowledge into debate analyses which improved my skills in fact checking and discussion making.
Working with children, family and community rehabilitation has always been my passion. I have been admin to learn about community liaison and complying ethically within any workplace. Ethical practice is incremental in all job sites that I have attended to. I have studied about professionalism and have acquired knowledge into police professional code of conduct and ethics. Units reviewed police professional conduct and the importance of behaving honestly and with diligence on duty. It discussed complying with reasonable and lawful direction when conducting police discretionary powers. I also developed enhanced knowledge about all types of police corruption and the importance of reporting misconduct within a workplace.
